About the Journal

Nusantara Border Governance Review (NBGR) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by Badan Nasional Pengelola Perbatasan (BNPP), Republik Indonesia. It advances rigorous, policy-relevant scholarship on border governance, sovereignty, and frontier development.

Aims & Scope

NBGR publishes original research, policy reviews, and field reporting that treat the borderland as a site of governance in its own right. We welcome work on integrated border posts (PLBN), maritime boundaries and the blue economy, cross-border communities, connectivity and trade corridors, and the law and institutions of sovereignty.

Our editorial standard is international: clear questions, credible evidence, and findings that translate into practice without sacrificing scholarly rigour. English is the primary language of publication, with Indonesian available for institutional information and selected summaries.
